Raising a child is a lifelong duty that does not come with an instruction manual. Sure, we pick up some tips and tools along the way, or some of us just wing the whole thing. A few of us may have taken a parenting class or have experience with other people’s children, but nothing really prepares you for the disruption of your inner peace like the personality and persistence of your own child.

On some days being a mother feels like a blessing, and yes, there are those days where it feels like a curse. Motherhood gives us the ability to tap into a deep love, but this profound love certainly reaches a point where we need help and guidance to remind ourselves of who we are and what our strengths are, apart from being a mama.

Mantras are a word or a phrase we can repeat to help bring ease and comfort during our day or during a meditation practice. Mantras are a tool that help reclaim our inner peace and inspire motivation to do what is right in moments when we feel triggered.

They have been a lifesaver for me when I need a gentle reminder of what is important, what my values are, what my well being goals are, and how to find grace in the middle of chaos, and I hope you enjoy these mantras for moms as much as I do.

Mantras for Moms For Your Week

Monday: “I can practice my unlimited love with healthy boundaries.”

Unlimited love is the ability to embrace the infinite love and care we give to our children and family. The ways we can express our deep love is unlimited, but this does not mean we don’t reach maximum capacity at some point. We may even forget to extend unlimited love to ourselves. Healthy boundaries are practical practices around communication, self-care, and reflection that you can put in place that will keep you from feeling overwhelmed. This mantra for moms will help you practice unlimited love for your loved ones and yourself. Remember, boundaries are a form of love.

Tuesday: “Each challenge I face is an opportunity to tap into my inner strength and kindness.”

When we experience emotionally challenging moments with our little ones that test our best-self, it is easy to dive deep into the strong emotions and see the situation as an opportunity to lash out or lose ourselves. However, when we take a pause, a deep breath, and repeat this mantra, it will give us the perspective to see this challenge as an opportunity to practice patience, to speak our truth from our heart, to be creative about a solution, to show compassion for ourselves and our child, and to role model kindness.

Wednesday: “I will do what brings me joy today.”

It’s mid-week and you’ve survived! Make a conscious effort to do what brings you joy and do it for an extra minute to bask in the glory of doing something for yourself. When we do things mindfully and with intention, we may find a new joy in getting dressed in the morning or brushing our teeth because it is something we do for ourselves and our wellbeing. Motherhood may have forced you to find deep joy in the little things, so when you find yourself having one minute to go to the bathroom, repeat this mantra, it may help you see the joy in simply using the bathroom, or it may remind you to pour yourself some water or whatever drink you enjoy to get you through the day.

Thursday: “My mind, body, and spirit belong to me. I will nourish them today.”

It’s a common experience to share our food, time, love, and energy with our little ones. As much as it goes without saying that we happily share the things that will nourish them, it can feel like we have nothing left for ourselves. The good news is that we do! Start your day with this mantra for moms as a reminder that your mind, body and spirit are three very unique and powerful tools that no one can physically take from you. When we nourish them with praise, positive thinking, mantras, and healthy activities that bring us pleasure, we can feel fulfilled as an individual.

Friday: “I have the portal of creation between my legs and I am not afraid to use it.”

Yes, you read that right! It’s Friday and it’s time to celebrate your power of creation. Even for the mamas who became mothers through c-section, surrogacy, or adoption, your portal exists and you are just as vast of a source for deep love and creation for your child. Motherhood is the greatest opportunity for creation, but what about nurturing your creativity outside of motherhood? We all have creative roots that tap into the deepest parts of ourselves in a different way. This mantra for moms will help you tap into your creativity without judgment. Take photos, dance, paint, draw, sing, write, make collages, garden, read, color, cook, sew, arrange flowers in a vase, meditate, rearrange a room in your house, do origami, post something fun on social media—do whatever your creative heart desires.

Saturday: “My worth is not determined by my productivity. I am allowed to rest.”

Society has done a great job of linking our self-worth and need for rest with our productivity. With endless tasks and chores, it can feel like we are tortured by all the things that have to get done, and we may feel guilty for resting. If we allow it, motherhood and life can spread us thin at the expense of our well being. However, the truth is, that we are worthy of rest if we are tired. Period. Motherhood is a never-ending, unpaid labor of love that makes it difficult to find time to rest, but mama, you deserve it. Repeat this mantra as you’re enjoying some extra time to sleep in or before you push yourself to get through a task, rather than honoring your need for rest.

Sunday: “ I am most nourished and fulfilled when . . .”

Complete this statement and write it down. The answer will be the specific goal you will aim to achieve at some point during the week ahead. Make an effort to either ask for nourishment or nourish yourself so that you can feel fulfilled. It can be as small as taking a hot bath, connecting with your partner, doing something creative, being alone, or eating your favorite food, whatever! In the moments of everyday mom life it can feel like we have no time to think about our own wellbeing. Use this question as a stepping stone of practicing unlimited love with yourself and getting back in touch with your individuality and wellbeing.

There you have it, daily mantras for moms who need a little inspiration and inner peace. Setting an intention for your day with a mama mantra will empower you to feel grounded. Save it to your phone or Pinterest and you can repeat the mantra anytime throughout your day as a reminder to tap into your best self.
